A simple, step-by-step guide to generating your first professional invoice without the overwhelm.

Sending an invoice shouldn't take longer than doing the actual work. Our tool is designed to help you get paid faster with zero learning curve.
Here is a quick overview of how to generate your first invoice in under 5 minutes.
Step 1: Add Your Business Details
At the top left of your invoice, fill out:
- Your Name / Company Name: Who is getting paid.
- Your Address & Contact Info: Essential for formal records.
Step 2: Add Your Client's Details
Right below your own details, in the Billed To section:
- Add your client's name or company name.
- Add their email address and physical address if required.
Step 3: Fill out the Invoice Variables
On the right-hand side, make sure to adjust:
- Invoice Number: Use a sequential standard (e.g.,
INV-001). - Date: Today's date.
- Due Date / Payment Terms: When you expect to be paid (Net 15, Net 30, or Upon Receipt).
Step 4: Line Items
This is the most critical part—detailing the work you did:
- Item Description: Be detailed enough that the client remembers what they are paying for (e.g., "Website Redesign - Homepage Layout").
- Rate & Quantity: If you charge hourly or a flat fee, input it here. The total calculates automatically.
Step 5: Don't Forget Payment Instructions!
In the Notes or Terms section at the bottom, explicitly state how you want to be paid.
"Please send payment via bank transfer to [Bank Name], Account: [Number], Routing: [Number]."
Step 6: Download & Send
Click the Download PDF button or use the direct Send Email link. You’re done! Your professional invoice is on its way.
